Is there an easy road to drive out of Las Vegas to see the "desert"? I'm a woman, not good at directions....?

Well since Vegas is in and surrounded by desert all you have to do is travel on any main street and eventually you will find yourself in the desert. You might want to drive west on West Charleston which will take you to Red Rock Canyon. Safe and really beautiful.
take 95 south, it is definite desert. We were amazed at the cactus and sand so close to a populated area. we flew into McCarren, and left with no Driving problems at all. also at the car rental place, ask for a GPS, they rent them, and it will give you turn, by turn directions. very simple to use and cheap to rent.Is there an easy road to drive out of Las Vegas to see the "desert"? It's pretty much all around. Pahrump is an option, head up to Red Rock Canyon on the North side for some natural beauty. Various websites can help you narrow down exactly what you want to see. Visitors bureau, chamber of commerce, AAA travel among others. Is there an easy road to drive out of Las Vegas to see the "desert"? I'm a woman, not good at directions....?
You could drive to Pahrump, Its about 40 minutes from Vegas. Just take blue Diamond (hwy 372) all the way down till you hit Pahrump.
